World Think Tanks’ Visit of Taishan

On the 27th and 28th of November 2012 in Beijing, China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) and China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) cosponsored the “Contemporary World Multilateral Dialogue”, the theme of which was The Changing World and China in Development. Mr. Dai Bingguo, China’s State Councilor sent a written message of felicitations. Mr. Wang Jiarui, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), Honorary Chairman of the CCCWS Council, and CFPD Honorary President attended the Opening Ceremony of the Dialogue. Dr. Yu Hongjun, Vice-Minister of the IDCPC and Chairman of the Council and President of CCCWS presided over the Opening Ceremony. Mr. Gao Yongzhong, Vice Minister of Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, and Special Council-Member of CCCWS, briefed the Eighteenth CPC National Congress. More than 140 well-known think tank leaders and scholars from approximately 30 countries such as US, UK, Russia, India, Egypt, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Belorussia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, Israel, Republic of Korea, Bolivia, Cyprus, Ecuador, and experts from China’s several research institutions participated in this conference.

 

The participants conducted discussions with a focus on the following topics: International Structure, Global Governance and the Role of the Emerging Countries; Security and Development in the Asian-Pacific Region; The Eighteenth CPC National Congress and China’s Development Road: Opportunities and Challenges. After the conference on 29-30 November, the sponsors organized a study tour to Shandong Province titled “World Think Tanks’ Visit of Taishan”. The experts and scholars signed and made public the Taishan Declaration, the theme of which can be encapsulated as “Peaceful Development, Common Prosperity, Prosperous Country, Decent Life and Harmonious World”. And afterwards they visited Jinan city. The study tour deepened the understanding of China’s situation of the international friends. About 20 media such as CCTV, People’s Daily, Xinhuanet, Chinanews.com, and China Daily had tracked the conference and the related activities.
