Seminar on the “One Belt One Road” Issues
From: CCCWS| 12-01-2014| By: CCCWS

On November 26, 2014, CCCWS held a seminar on the issues of building up the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road in the 21st Century (One Belt One Road). Prof. Yu Hongyuan, Shanghai Institute for International Studies and Prof. Gao Qiqi, East China University of Politics and Law made presentations, and CCCWS researchers joined the discussions. Mr. Yang Song, Director of Program Coordination of CCCWS, chaired the event.

Prof. Yu Hongyuan talked about two case studies——the water management in Amu Darya of Central Asia and electric power development in Southeast Asia. He analyzed the fundamental development demands of regional countries and how China could learn from the experiences of American, Japanese and European institutions working there. Prof. Gao Qiqi approached this issue from the perspectives of comparative politics and governance capability modernization. He argued that China should have more in-depth understanding of nuanced political, social and economic transitions of related countries. Prof. Gao also briefed the research project on “State’s Participation Index of Global Governance” led by him and its Annual Report 2014.
