From: CCCWS| 12-01-2014| By: CCCWS

On 13-15 October, 2014, CCCWS Associate Research Fellow Dr. Zhao Minghao was invited to attend the US-China Think Tank Dialogue co-sponsored by the Center for American Progress and China Foreign Affairs University. This Dialogue brought together scholars from the RAND Cooperation, the Brookings Institution, the Center for New American Security, and China Institute for International Studies among other major think tanks in two countries.

Held just before US President Obama’s visit to China, the Dialogue focused on how to explore the frontiers of US-China strategic cooperation, including the energy and climate change. The participants shared their views on Asia-Pacific Security Architecture as well as roles and responsibilities for the two countries beyond the Asia-Pacific region. It was a common observation that US-China relations must keep pace with the rapid changes of regional and global situations, and take advantage of opportunities associated with their respective reforms.

In addition, the participants made visits to the State Department and the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. They also met and discussed with officials from the National Security Council as well as two former National Security Advisers——Mr. Stephen Hadley and Mr. Thomas Donilon.
