CHINA CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY WORLD STUDIES

On November 29, CCCWS Deputy Director-General Kong Genhong met with Cristian Siegert Castaneda, Minister Plenipotentiary of Colombia to China. The two sides exchanged views on conducting exchanges and cooperation between CCCWS and think tanks of Colombia.

Dr. Kong Genhong first briefed the establishment background of CCCWS and main work done after one year of establishment. After listening to the briefing, Siegert said that China and Colombia enjoyed more than 30 years of friendship, and there were a lot of similarities in the two countries. Both countries were trying to develop economy and enhance the peoples’ livelihood. At present it was the best stage for developing the relations of the two countries. More and more young people of Colombia were interested in China and hoped to come to China for study and living. The distance of the two countries was consistently drawing closer. We believed that the friendship of the two countries should be demonstrated in more aspects, so the Embassy of Colombia to China hoped to promote the academic institutions and think tanks of the two countries to establish cooperative relations. Dr. Kong expressed appreciation for the willingness of Colombian side to conduct cooperation between the think tanks of the two countries. The two sides also discussed the concrete issues of promoting exchanges and cooperation of the think tanks of the two countries.
