CHINA CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY WORLD STUDIES

Mr. Liu Yunshan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, participated in an international conference “The Chinese Communist Party in the Eyes of European Scholars” on 11 June in Copenhagen during his official visit to Denmark.

Mr. Liu says that China’s development and progress is a big issue. The CPC is the core of the leadership for China’s revolution, construction and reform. The most essential feature for socialism with Chinese characteristics is to adhere to the CPC’s leadership. To study China certainly means to study the CPC. To study socialism with the Chinese characteristics also surly means to study the CPC. To study the CPC well is actually to have got hold of the core for studying China, and have found the “key” for the explanations of the important questions like where contemporary China has come and where it would go. Mr. Liu indicates that China will as always conduct sincere communications and exchanges with people of vision from all over the world, and welcome scholars from various countries to study China and the CPC in an open, inclusive, supporting and cooperative manner. He suggests that an in-depth study should be conducted from five dimensions including history, people, culture, practice and the world so as to know the CPC comprehensively and objectively, and to seize the code of development and progress of contemporary China.

The scholars from the countries other than China indicate that with the rise of China, more and more people from various countries of the world begin to pay attention to China and study China. In the meantime, more and more researchers realize that to understand the CPC is the key to make a good study of China. The conference participants suggest that Europe-China research institutions should strengthen their exchanges, establish some joint research projects, so as to constantly enhance the research level of the CPC.

The conference is co-hosted by China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) and Asia Research Center of Copenhagen Business School. Present at the conference are well-known scholars from China and several European countries such as UK, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Holland. They exchange views and hold discussions about issues like the study of China and the CPC.
