On November 17th, Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Co-Chairman of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), attended the opening ceremony of the 8th International Forum on the Belt and Road Initiative & Global Governance via video link and delivered a speech.
Lu noted, the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee pointed out that it is necessary to improve the institutions and mechanisms for fostering new quality productive forces in line with local conditions and continuously enhance the technological content, green content and brand content of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). At present, the BRI has entered a new stage of high-quality development. It is necessary to empower the scientific and technological development of the BRI with cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, to empower the digital development of the BRI with digital economic cooperation, and to empower the sustainable development of the BRI with green and low-carbon transformation to build the BRI into a road of cooperation, opportunity, and prosperity for partner countries, providing a steady stream of imputes to promote world economic growth and global common development.
This forum was co-organized by the SRTA, and Fudan University, with the theme of “New Quality Productive Forces and the Golden Decade of BRI”. Qiu Yuanping, former Executive Deputy Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group of the CPC Central Committee, Jiao Yang, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University and Head of Fudan Institute of the Belt and Road & Global Governance, Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, Minister of Health for Zanzibar in Tanzania, Chuluun-Erdene, Director of the Mongolia "Belt and Road" Co-Development Research Center and other government, university and academic representatives attended the forum and held discussions.
