Dr. Kong Genhong Led A Five-Member Delegation Visiting The UK

From 4th to 10th March, at the invitation of the British Embassy in China, CCCWS Deputy Director-General Kong Genhong led a 5-member delegation visiting the UK for exchanging ideas and investigation.

On Mar. 6, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Peter Wilson, Director of Asia Pacific Directorate of UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). The two sides exchanged views on situation in Asia Pacific region, China-US and China-UK relations. Present at the meeting were Mr. Ian Seckington, Head of Asia Pacific Research Group of Asia Pacific Directorate of UK FCO, and Ms. Rebecca Fabrizi, Team Leader of China Internal Team of Asia Pacific Directorate of UK FCO. On Mar. 9, the delegation had a meeting with Dr. Adam Ward, Director of Studies of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and exchanged views on the current international situation, Asia Pacific security and China-US relations. Present at the meeting was Dr. Mark Fitzpatrick, Director of Non-Proliferation & Disarmament Programme of IISS. On On Mar. 9, the delegation had another meeting with the 48 Group Club, and had discussions on China-UK relations. Present at the meeting were Mr. Stephen Perry, Chairman of the 48 Group Club, Mr. J. Ross, former Deputy Mayor of London, Mr. Stefan Kosciuszko, Asia House CEO, and Mr. W. Straw, Institute of Public Policy Research, and others. Besides, the delegation had separate meetings with Mr. Peter Hatchard, Officer at Office for Civil Society, Cabinet Office on Big Society, Lord Wei, an adviser to the UK Government on the Big Society project and a member of the House of Lords, Prof. Jude Howell, Director of the Center for Civil Society of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Dr. Chris Alden, Reader in the Department of International Relations of LSE, Mr. Geoff Mulgan, Chief Executive of National Endowment for Science, Technology, and the Arts (NESTA), Chief Executive Simon Tucker and Programme Leader Vicki Sellick form the Young Foundation, LOCALITY, the University of Oxford, and Charity Commission, conducting extensive investigation, exchanges and discussions on Big Society issues.

Dr. Zhou Ning, Inspector of Central Policy Research Office, and Mr. Wang Hongsheng, Councilor of IDCPC participated in the above activities.

The delegation had a meeting with Mr. Peter Hatchard, Officer at Office for Civil Society, Cabinet Office on Big Society.

   Dr. Kong Genhong met with Lord Wei, an adviser to the UK Government on the Big Society project and a member of the House of Lords.

 

The delegation had a meeting with Prof. Jude Howell (on the left), Director of the Center for Civil Society of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Dr. Chris Alden, Reader in the Department of International Relations of LSE.

The delegation had a dinner with people from Great Britain China Center and Chatham House.

The delegation had a meeting with Mr. Geoff Mulgan, Chief Executive of NESTA.   

The delegation had a meeting with the Young Foundation.

The delegation visited LOCALITY.

The delegation had a group photo with people from the University of Oxford.

Dr. Kong Genhong had a picture with Dr Pamela Hartigan, Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Said Business School of The University of Oxford.

The delegation had a group photo with experts from IISS.

The delegation had a group photo with the 48 Group Club.

The delegation had a meeting with Charity Commission.
