CCCWS President Yu Hongjun Meets with Mr. Hans Modrow, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Left Party of Germany

On the afternoon of Oct. 18th, CCCWS President Yu Hongjun met with Mr. Hans Modrow, former Premier of East Germany, and Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Left Party of Germany. Both sides exchanged views on Socialism study in Germany, and comprehensive review of the development of China-Germany relations.

Mr. Modrow says that great changes have taken place for the world socialism after drastic changes in Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Socialism at the 21st century is an important subject. In many countries the current socialism process is not an issue of revolution, but an issue of transformation and development. Socialism with the Chinese characteristics and the Eighteenth National Congress of the CPC should be highlighted. China and Germany should cosponsor symposiums, and have in-depth discussions on the theoretical and practical issues socialism.

 

Dr. Yu says that it is quite necessary to comprehensively review and summarize the historical process of the development of the world socialism. The socialist roads nowadays differ in thousands of ways. Different models have their gains and losses. With the continuous development of human society, socialist process has also changed and should be further studied.

 

CCCWS Council-Member Mr. Liu Jinfeng, Counselor Yang Deli form the Chinese Embassy to Germany, CCCWS Research Fellow Yang Hongxi, CCCWS Associate Research Fellow Zhao Minghao, and Dr. Linke, Director of Asia Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, are present at the meeting.
