CCCWS Delegation Holds Discussions with Scholars from The Netherlands Institute of International Relations

On 23 October, CCCWS Delegation led by its President Dr. Yu Hongjun held discussions with the scholars from the Netherlands Institute of International Relations “Clingendael” during their transit from Holand. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the European debt crisis and European intergration, the EU foreign plicy, the Asia-Pacific situation and think tank cooperation.

Dr. Yu Hongjun evaluates positively China-Holland and China-Europe relations, briefs China’s domestic economic and social development as well as preparation and significance of the CPC 18th National Congress, and clarifies China’s positions on the Asia-Pacific situation, and China-Japan dispute over Diaoyu Island. Professor Jan Melissen briefs the Clingendael situation, and points out that Clingendael is one of the most important independent research institutions of international affairs. Under the suggestion of Holland Ministry of Foreign Affairs six years ago, the Clingendael established research project on Northeast Asia security, in order to strengthen research on the Asia-Pacific, especially on China.

 

Also present at the discussions are CCCWS Council-Member Mr. Liu Jinfeng, Research Fellow Yang Hongxi, Associate Research Fellows Zhao Minghao, Gao Yang, and Zheng Junlv; Chen Yajun, Director of Cultural Section of China’s Embassy to Holland, Professor Jan Melissen, Research Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Clingendael, Professor and Dr. Jan Rood, Head of Strategic Research at the Clingendael Institute, and some other scholars from the Clingendael.
