CHINA CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY WORLD STUDIES

On 13 June, 2014 in Paris, CCCWS and French Foundation Jean Jaures co-hosted an international conference “President Xi’s Visit to Europe: What China Has Said and What Europe has heard”. Mr. Guo Yezhou, Chairman of the CCCWS Council, Ms. Sun Haiyan, CCCWS Director-General, Mr. Jean-Yves Leconte, Senator of France, Mr. Henri Weber, MP of the European Parliament and Head of the Europe Research for the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party, Mr. Pierre Schapira, former Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of international relations, Mr. Thierry Aube, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Committee of the International Department of the French Socialist Party, Mr. Pierre Thomas, Deputy Representative in charge of international relations of Paris and Member of the International Department of the French Socialist Party, Mr. Gerard Fuchs, Director of the International Department of French Foundation Jean Jaures attended the conference and made speeches. The participants from China and France from their respective dimensions exchanged views on how to comprehensively and accurately understand the core message conveyed by President Xi Jinping in his recent visit to Europe, how to seize the opportunity to promote the development of China-Europe and China-France relations. And both sides had in-depth interactions and discussions.

The participants from France believe that President Xi Jinping’s visit to Europe is very significant. The visit has set off “China craze” in France and Europe, and has promoted the understanding of the European people including the French towards China.
